Create Good Structure for Requirements

Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.
A. A. Milne

The importance of structure for requirements cannot be understated. The requirements are the building blocks of the change you are trying to make in an organization.

The requirements are going to be used by developers to develop the solution.

The requirements are going to be vetted by business to ensure the right solution is being implemented

The requirements are going to be used by testers to test the solution

The requirements are going to be used to create presentations to executives

The requirements are going to be used to make sure the solution is congruent and consistent

The structure of requirements is what allows the requirements to be used by all the different stakeholders for all the different uses.

It is the traceability portion of the structure that is going to tie the requirements together

Take the time to create an effective structure for requirements that serves all the potential uses of the requirements.
