Communication and Decisions

Communication is not about speaking what we think. Communication is about ensuring others hear what we mean.

As a business analyst, it is our role to facilitate good decisions.

There will be cases where we gather the information, form the recommendation, and then the decision makers decide on a direction that we feel is the wrong decision.

In these situations, the first thing we should look at is if there was anything wrong with the way we communicated our findings and our recommendation. It is on the business analyst to make sure what was communicated was understood in the correct way.

Looking to ourselves first and making sure our communication is good increases the chance that the best decisions are being made.
