If you ask ChatGPT if AI is creative it will say that AI does not have the capacity for human-like imagination
The output that ChatGPT can produce can seem creative, so the question is what constitutes creativity.
I would say that it includes an element of something new.
AI is limited by the data that it starts with. AI can rearrange what it knows to seemingly produce something that seems creative, but it is just rearranging what it already has.
In the future, as we interact with AI more and more it is going to be critical to be able to discern when we are being creative and adding to AI and when we are just rehashing something in a different way.
