Providing traceability on a project is a key activity for a business analyst.
High-level business requirements to stakeholder requirements to solution requirements to test scenarios and test cases to ongoing metrics and KPIs is a complicated web of traceability.
If the components at each level are not well defined and independent, traceability becomes complicated.
Traceability can then be a metric for how well the components are defined. If the traceability is becoming complicated and time-consuming, the components can be refined to remove the complication.
