Spiral Life Design

Growth is a spiral process, doubling back on itself, reassessing and regrouping.
Julia Margaret Cameron

Many times in life it feels like we are doing the same thing over and over again.

It is like being lost where you see the same landmarks over again.

In reality, every time we come around we learn something new, we move upwards.

You bring what you learned the last time to the situation so you learn more, or you internalize what you learned before.

Each subsequent time builds on the time before.

This is an approach that we can take advantage of. For any issue start with the basics and then move on to more complicated parts. After a while return to the basics with your new understandings and then move on again to the more complicated parts. This spiral approach is effective and when revisiting parts you see the progress you are making.

A practical example is learning the piano. Start with simpler pieces and move on to more complicated pieces. Then circle back to the simpler pieces and continue the spiral. First, the simpler pieces seem easier after the complicated pieces that allow you to further ingrain the simpler technique. The increased technique then helps with the more complicated pieces. Also, when coming back to the simpler pieces your confidence grows which gives you more motivation for the more complicated pieces.

It is the exact same approach when it comes to creating and living your life design.
