For 2o21 I am adding a new concept to my planning,
I am adding “Practice” based on inspiration from Seth Godin
For me having a practice helps with my perfectionism. Just because I am viewing it as practice does not mean there isn’t value.
As a Canadian, hockey is one of my favorite sports.
In many ways, the regular season of hockey can be viewed as practice. It is the teams putting the systems and structure in place and practicing them to get ready for the playoffs with the ultimate goal of winning the Stanley cup.
In the same way, I am going to be putting in structure, routine, systems in place that I practice with the hopes of either getting better or faster at them. The structure, routine, systems all produce value regardless of how well I perform them. How well I perform them will indicate where and who I work with.
If you are looking for a guide to take you up Mount Everest, you will want the best of the best. If you want a guide to take you on a hike in your local park, you don’t need a guide who has practiced to the point of taking people up Mount Everest. You want the guide who has practiced to the point of being the best of the people in the park.
Once you start practicing, there will always be the opportunity to put the practice to the test.
I will update my journey into my practice in the days ahead.
