Life Lesson from Bonsai

Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself.

The best bonsai are the ones with character. Those bonsai that look like old weathered trees in the wild.

That character is built with wind, snow, rocky environment, drought.

The more you can see how the environment has shaped the bonsai the more interesting the bonsai is.

When the bonsai has lots of character and is also still lush, that is the ideal.

It is the same for people. Your character is built out of the hardships that you go through. Wear those scars proudly. They are a part of you.

When the next hardship comes along, celebrate that you now have a chance to build more character.

Don’t wish for the easy life, wish for the life that will build character.

Live the Adventure
