As a business analyst, you are taking your client on a journey to implement a change.
As the guide, make sure your client knows what the journey is, where they are, and where they are ultimately going.
There will be a series of activities and associated deliverables on the journey. The client should understand those deliverables and how they fit into the larger journey.
Too often, clients just get glimpses of the journey as they participate in the activities along the way. They don’t know why they are doing what they are doing and they don’t know what’s coming.
Be the guide. At the beginning of the journey, outline the journey from beginning to end. This way they will know what to expect as they go through the journey. While on the journey, remember that you understand the path because you have been on it many times before, they haven’t. Consistently remind them of the bigger journey and the activities that are coming up.
When they are comfortable with the journey, they will be comfortable with the change.
