Gathering Information is not Overthinking

Thinking is the place where intelligent actions begin. We pause long enough to look more carefully at a situation, to see more of its character, to think about why it's happening, to notice how it's affecting us and others.
Margaret J. Wheatley

A dangerous piece of advice that is given to entrepreneurs is not to overthink and to take action.

There is a time to take action, but there is also a time to think. If you are gathering information to make an informed decision you are making an effective use of your time.

Taking action too soon will result in going in the wrong direction which results in making more work.

If you are contemplating, write your contemplations down. It is when you are thinking the same thing over and over that it is time to do something different. Either figure out different information you can collect, or take action in the form of an experiment to get more information.

If you are lost in the woods the worst thing you can do is to take action. Figure out where you are, where you want to be, and how to bridge that gap.

Intelligent action requires thinking.
