As a business analyst, one question you should always be asking is WHY?
Why is this requirement needed?
Why is this feature needed?
Why is this data required?
Why is this stakeholder responsible?
Why is this process done in this way?
There should be a handful of business outcomes that are being strived for and by asking why you should be able to trace all solutions to requirements and all requirements to these business outcomes.
