Remove Friction from Journaling

You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.
John C. Maxwell

One key for your journaling practice is to remove friction from your journaling.

Making it easy is a personal thing. What is easier for others is not necessarily what is easier for others.

Some techniques for removing friction:

  • Keep your journal in a place where it is ready to be used. Even if you use digital journaling, have the device ready and have a link to quickly start the process.
  • Create the habit of journaling at specific times such as first thing in the morning and the last thing before bed.
  • Review your journal to create urgency to keep the journal up to date. This is a type of gamification.
  • Journal the times when the journal has provided value to have an awareness of the value of your journal.
  • Create templates to complete the repetitive parts of journaling.
