When we experience negative emotions, reasoning does not always remove the emotion.
If we are scared of walking in the woods, reasoning that there is nothing to be afraid of is not going to take the emotion away. The reasoning is what gives us the legs to be brave and walk in the woods anyways.
If we are sad from a loss, putting the loss into perspective does not take the emotion away. Reasoning allows us to experience the loss and other positive emotions at the same time.
It is walking forward in those moments that define us as a person.
Embrace your emotions and use reasoning as your crutch to move forward.
