Metaphors for Understanding

Metaphors have a way of holding the most truth in the least space.
Orson Scott Card

Metaphors are a useful tool for business analysts to use to create common understandings between different stakeholders.

When you can create a metaphor that encapsulates an understanding of a domain that everyone can relate to it builds understanding. It allows individuals to bring their understanding of the metaphor to build an understanding of the domain.

Using a metaphor of meeting at a coffee shop to represent a sales call builds the understanding of the personal connection part of sales.
