Three core components of your personal book of knowledge (PBOK) are input, output, and retrieval. The combination of these three will define your PBOK framework.
An effective PBOK requires processes and templates to effectively create knowledge within your PBOK. The more friction involved in getting the knowledge recorded the less likely they are to be used.
An effective PBOK requires the knowledge to be displayed in useful ways. If the information is not easily consumable it will not be used.
An effective PBOK requires the knowledge to be capable of being found. This is the most critical piece. If the information cannot be found once it has been entered it has no value. This is where taxonomies and frameworks come into play. With good frameworks and taxonomies, the knowledge within your PBOK can be found when required.
As you are defining your processes for creating and using your PBOK always keep these three components in mind.
