As a business analyst, I approach any change by understanding three things: current state, future state, and the gap between the two.
When it comes to designing your ideal day, most people just focus on the future state. They get an idea of what their ideal day is but either the ideal day is unattainable or they don’t have the skill, focus, or willpower to live their ideal day.
Once you know your ideal day you then need to identify what your current day is and from your current day what the gap is. Your ideal day is based on your environment and you. The gap shows what you need to change in your environment and what you need to change in yourself. Either of those may be difficult and take time.
After identifying the gap, create a plan that takes you from your current day to your ideal day. Address each of the gaps in your plan. Create your plan such that your day becomes closer to your ideal day in an iterative manner. Take steps that you can accomplish towards your ideal day whether they are big or small.
By following this plan, every day will be a tiny bit better than the day before. Before you know it you will be living your ideal day.
