Writing your thoughts down frees up that part of your brain that was contemplating those thoughts. It is a liberating experience to get thoughts that went in circles in your head out and onto paper.
Once you have freed up your brain does not mean that it automatically gets filled again. There is a period of time when your brain feels empty.
On those days when I am brainstorming ideas, and I get the ideas out of my head and into my journal, I sometimes end up with nothing in my head. Some people call this writer’s block, some just feel that they have run out of ideas.
If you sit with the emptiness and accept it for what it is, your brain will naturally start looking for other ideas or other connections to put together. It is a process that cannot be rushed.
Sitting with your thoughts without expectation and the thoughts and ideas will come.
