David Thompson was an explorer in the early 1800s. He explored what is now western Canada and the western United States.
As an explorer, there are many parallels with an entrepreneur.
He started with a problem to be solved. He was searching for a route through the mountains.
He would try one route and when it didn’t work out he would pivot and try another route.
He was dealing with things that were new. He was in a territory that was not explored by Europeans before.
Most importantly, regardless of whether he found a route or not, he enjoyed the process. He got to see new lands, sights, and places not very many people get to see.
An entrepreneur as an explorer and an explorer as an entrepreneur is a valuable perspective.
