Creating a vision is sometimes hampered by day-to-day issues. This is true whether we are looking at personal growth or the future of an organization.
The issues are going to drive the wants and the wants are going to dictate the outcomes.
When the issues and day-to-day needs are clouding the vision we need to take a step back. Taking a step back means looking at the larger timeframe. Rather than thinking of how to overcome the current obstacles, think about how you would want things in 5 years or 10 years. When the timeframe is far enough in the future we will start thinking about the real vision.
Once we have a powerful future vision we can work backward to the present.
