The hardest step in creating the life you want is creating the discipline to work for that life.
Creating discipline without a plan makes it exponentially harder.
Think of trying to create discipline in the gym where you have all the machines and all the weights. The best way to create discipline is to figure out your routine first and then build discipline by consistently following the routine.
Same in life, create your routine first, what I call your practice. Figure out what and how you want to live your day and then approach living your day from the perspective of building discipline to follow your practice.
At first, like any habit, it is difficult. But if you have a well-laid-out practice, then just keep at it. Don’t worry if you miss parts of days, or take days off completely. Just try to be a little better than the day before.
Remember that who you are is just as important as what your practice is. Constantly refine your practice so that it fits with who you are.
Eventually, parts of your practice will take hold and other parts will start to fall into place. Think in terms of weeks and months to solidify a practice.
