Business analysts are guides. We guide people to implement a change and then we move on to the next initiative.
All we walk away with is our experience
To create more opportunities and more growth, we need to focus on creating assets as we gain experience as a guide.
If you are a tour guide and you take someone to a destination, take the time to create an asset. This could be a travel guide, a photography book, an almanac. It can even be the connections that are made. The point is to make that experience into a tangible asset that has value.
Takes more effort at the beginning but as these assets are created you gain exponential returns.
As a business analyst, our assets are templates, sets of questions, articles about our field, video explanations, blog posts, articles, books. This is a practice every business analyst and everyone in a guide type profession should start on day one.
