My Daily Thoughts

BA Pipeline

I think what makes AI different from other technologies is that it’s going to bring humans and machines closer together. AI is sometimes incorrectly framed as machines replacing humans.  It’s not about machines replacing humans, but machines augmenting humans. Humans and machines have different relative strengths and weaknesses, and it’s about the combination of these two that will allow human intents and business process to scale 10x, 100x, and beyond that in the coming years.

A business analyst goes through a series of steps from the initial business case to the big picture, to the business requirements, to the solution requirements to the build and test, and finally implementing the solution.

With artificial intelligence much of the middle part of the pipeline is going to be replaced.

A business analyst will be responsible for identifying where a change is required and what the outcomes of the change will be. The high-level business requirements will be fed into AI which will determine requirements and create the solution. The business analyst will then verify the solution.

The speed at which this will happen will be very short compared with current time frames. This will allow the business analyst to address issues and opportunities as they arise. Project backlogs may become a thing of the past.

In the world, business analysts will be change agents, a term that is currently used to describe them.
