Sluice box Entrepreneur

There are three kinds of people in the world: those who make things happen, those who wait for things to happen, and those who wonder what the hell just happened.

One of my favorite shows is Gold Rush.

The sluice box that gold miners use to extract gold is a great metaphor for the type of entrepreneurial ventures I want to pursue.

JournaledLife is one of those ventures.  The sluice box represents the website and the associated journaling course.  In the same way that it takes time and effort to design a sluice box, it takes time and effort to create a website and online course.

Once a sluice box is set up, it is fed gold-rich dirt through a daily practice of stockpiling dirt and then feeding it through the sluice box.

For JournaledLife life it is similar except instead of feeding in the dirt, I am feeding in content.  By continuously feeding content to the website, that is going to generate traffic that goes through the website that is going to result in sales.  In the sluice box metaphor, the sales are the gold nuggets.

For gold mining, creating the sluice box is just part of the whole process, the rest of the process revolves around clearing land to find the dirt and then moving the dirt to the sluice box and finally feeding the sluice box to extract the gold.  This whole process is refined to be as efficient as possible to be able to run through as much dirt as possible.

It is the same for an entrepreneur. Once he has created something of value that he is selling online, he needs an efficient process to generate content to attract traffic to put through the website.  Whether this content is content that is published on the blog or related blogs or the content is Facebook ads or google ads, the result is always sending high converting traffic to the website.
