One key for your journaling practice is to remove friction from your journaling.
Making it easy is a personal thing. What is easier for others is not necessarily what is easier for others.
Some techniques for removing friction:
- Keep your journal in a place where it is ready to be used. Even if you use digital journaling, have the device ready and have a link to quickly start the process.
- Create the habit of journaling at specific times such as first thing in the morning and the last thing before bed.
- Review your journal to create urgency to keep the journal up to date. This is a type of gamification.
- Journal the times when the journal has provided value to have an awareness of the value of your journal.
- Create templates to complete the repetitive parts of journaling.
