When I am on a long hike, I can look back and see how far I have come. I feel good about the distance I have traveled and that gives me the energy to move forward.
When I am on a long hike, I know the destination and how far it is to the destination. When I can compare that distance to the distance I have come it seems less daunting. If I am halfway there then I know I just have to repeat what I have already done.
The map and the awareness of where you are on the map are great motivators for your life.
