Understanding that we need life metrics is the first step. The second step is figuring out what to track.
What to track is different for everyone. It is based on your situation, your goals, and what your plan is going forward.
If you are at a good weight and it is not fluctuating then it doesn’t need to be tracked
The process for determining life metrics is:
- Determine your goals and your objectives for fulfilling those goals
- Pick metrics that would show progress towards each objective. In the beginning, more metrics are better. The metrics that are not providing value can be dropped.
- Follow your life plan and collect the metrics
- Evaluate what the metrics are revealing and modify as necessary
When you have life metrics you have a way of describing your life.
The metrics that are useful today may not be useful tomorrow and vice versa.
