Focus on Feeling

The first thing I do when planning for the new year is to figure out how I want to feel.

What are all of the feelings I want to experience in the new year? Around those feelings, I create goals that will create those feelings.

As an example, I want to have a feeling of financial security and therefore I make this a goal. Now, when I am creating objectives for this goal, it is more than just determining the amount of money earned or money saved. It will include other objectives that help me subjectively feel a sense of financial security.

In the end, it is how we feel that is important. If we achieve our goals, but we don’t experience the feelings we want to feel, what is the point of achieving our goals?
