One way of measuring the quality of your goals is by how inspirational they are.
When the idea of achieving your goal excites you, you will be compelled to put in the effort to achieve the goal.
I relate this idea to hiking. When I am hiking and I see a destination I want to hike to, that destination is a goal. I don’t pick something that I don’t want to see, or that doesn’t excite me.
Some hikes are very strenuous. They have steep trails, long distances, bushwhacking, any number of things that require significant effort. At times you are exhausted and you just focus on putting one foot ahead of the other. It is the destination that you are going towards that makes that effort worth it. If there were no final destination or the final destination was not inspiring you wouldn’t put in the effort.
